Mission Statement
Welcome and please join The Smile Revolution! Its purpose is to raise conscious awareness to the healing power of a smile. If you smile, you may save someone's life. If you are walking down the street and someone sees you smile, that will help the other person! Its the universal code, babies smile, animals smile and anyone can smile if they choose to. Even if you aren't feeling up to it, if you become conscious of smiling anyway, YOU will feel better and then it becomes easier. Try it! It will change your frame of mind instantly, and you will be contributing to other people having a better day. Smiling is contagious. Let's change the world one smile at a time. Please feel free to write in any anecdotes, smile stories, smile songs that you can share with others.
This started a year ago while I, Mindy Fradkin AKA The Princess of Wow! was performing in Manhattan for a documentary film and was interviewed before my show. I was blowing bubbles and the thought came to me that we needed a Smiling Revolution. A year later during Christmas week, the thought came to me to begin the Revolution, and I launched it on Christmas Day in Woodstock, New York on The Woodstock Roundtable, a wonderful radio show on WDST.FM with Doug Grunther and then that night on Woodstock TV. What better place to launch a revolution than in Woodstock.

The smiling revolution is right on target! Our joy is more contagious than anything, and we can spread it simply and easily with a smile. I've found that even when I am in my sourest state of mind, a smile from someone can make the world feel like a better place. I want to give that back. A smile has power, because it comes from a place of love, of hope, of spiritual truth. It may seem to be just a facial expression, but what backs it up is Love, and that's divine! Smiles have power, and they are a great beginning to a revolution of joy! We can change the world for good, by letting our smiles catch on--they free us and others from paranoia, fear, depression, those very things that lead to crime, sickness, and even terrorism. A smile is a small beginning, but a powerful one. Smile, grin, giggle, and laugh. It's not hard to do, and it's a healing thing. I know you want to...C'mon. Just do it!!

A smile is a revolutionary act because something has to change drastically to smile. To get to something better, we have to overthrow something that is worn out, or holding us back. We have to change the way we think about something to turn a frown into a smile.
Small example. A very dear person I know used to hate snow. If he saw a cloud overhead with white flakes falling, an even blacker cloud would form in his thinking! He thought of all the problems snow brought. Driving, shoveling etc. He grew up in Seattle where the appearance of snow is rare, and when it does come, the steep streets can turn into the luge run in the Olympics. (ok, not quite) Then he moved to Utah where they love to ski and get 20 feet of welcome snow a year! He also started watching a TV show about a town in Alaska. (Northern Exposure) The whole town turned out to celebrate the first snowfall of winter. They reveled in it, soaked in its peaceful beauty. They smiled and held out their hands and tongues and caught flakes. My friend had a startling (for him) thought--snow is....beautiful? He had tried skiing, but resisted it. Now he thought he would try again. He strapped on cross country skies and went out the back door..into a peaceful paradise. He even went on a winter vacation to Quebec, where he slept in the Ice Hotel and went dog sledding. You couldn't wipe the smile off his face as he mushed those huskies through the most dazzling snow filled forest.
Now, when the flakes are falling, a smile transforms him. It is backed up by a transformative thought--gratitude for snow!
A smiling revolution demands us to look for something that at first, might not seem to be there, be grateful for it, and build on it. A smile says, "I see the good". Nothing to keep us from starting right now. Thanks to this site for nudging us in the right direction! Look forward to hearing more stories about smile victories.

P.S.You can help spread the revolution..when you see someone who isn't smiling, ask them if they know that there is a smiling revolution going on? Most people will immediately start smiling as they wanna be part of a smiling revolution! Tell them to go the blog!

A smile is what gets me through each day. Memories of true pure happiness, joys of present, and dreams of the future to come light up my days. If only the world could see life as I do.
