Happy Friendship Day!
On Valentine's Day, I think as a society we need a new holiday..Friendship Day. We have holidays to celebrate almost everything and everyone else. Our society worships romance as the ideal desire that one should have their whole life and without it you are not as important or you are not complete without a partner.
Friendship was revered in other centuries. We need a Friendliness Campaign and Friendship Day!

In France we have a good neighbor day. Everyone goes from apartment to apartment, offering a drink or some fruit or cheese. There is often an open party. Also, whenever someone has a party, they post a sign in the hallway to excuse the possible noise and invite everyone to join. This way communication is friendly, and it is easier to be more tolerant.
The mayor of the city often creates new celebration days. There is one for culture... the museums are open all night and a promenade is organized, it is called the "Nuit Blanche", the White Night, because you party till dawn. There is also a music marathon day called "Fete de la Musique".
