My Dad hardly ever smiled. He had a very terrible tragedy when he was child and never got over it his whole life.
So, it was very difficult for him to express joy, affection, or smiles. He was a very special man and  inspired me greatly. He helped many people and was a man of integrity in many ways. He had his issues but don't we all?

The last time I saw him conscious, he GAVE me the biggest smile I had ever seen from him. He could hardly speak, but he could smile at me. He was in a tremendous amount of pain. I will never forget that smile ever. It was so powerful and healing, coming from him. Smiles are free. Some of the most important things in life are free. Hugs, smiles, a kind word, encouraging someone, making someone laugh, doing something good for someone.. taking a walk with a friend, having a good, constructive conversation that is not gossiping, listening to music, dancing..praising someone..the list goes on...pet animals, they give so much love unconditionally..
