A British study found that men rated smiling women younger than frowning ones- even if those who frowned were actually younger! The reason: Smiling is psychologically associated with joy, vitality, and youth. Plus, frowning brings out lines in the face not apparent when a person smiles, adds dermatologist Kevin Roche, M.D.
