I posted these quotes in 2006, and just found them today. I wanted to repost them because I feel they are so important.
The movie, Patch Adams, was a true inspiration to my life. If you haven’t seen it, do yourself a favor and borrow it or rent it. Its based on his life. Its not 100% accurate but totally inspiring film.
“The most revolutionary act you can commit in today’s society is to be publicly HAPPY.”
“If compassion and generosity were the measure of success that MONEY and POWER are now, how would your life change?”
“Do you dare to be universally friendly to end violence?”
“If being publicly joyful, even silly, were beneficial for our society, would you participate?”
Its interesting that I am penning this on Halloween Day. I love that today people are wearing “costumes” and allow themselves one day a year to look “silly”. ( which I think looks great!). I wear a “costume” every day and its FUN.
I wear rainbow colors head to toe and it makes people smile. Why couldn’t we wear costumes one day a week, just for FUN? I know most of us wouldn’t do it, but what if we broke out of our comfort zone and beliefs about how you are supposed to look for one day other than one day a year? It might make you smile and others too!
Wow! To have a world of adults having more fun and joy! What a concept! The child that we once were, is still within us and wants to have more good, clean fun with NO guilt!
Sir Sid Bernstein brought The Beatles to America. I met him with my husband. I saw him at Julian Lennon’s photography opening in SOHO, New York, and told him that he was fresh and new every day, and that he is 91 years NEW. He then said, “Call me. I will help you” and kept walking. He didn’t even give me his number. He assumed I could find it.I did.
After calling him for two weeks almost every day and much convincing, he agreed to give me a meeting in person. He recently got knighted by the recommendation of Sir Paul McCartney and it got international news. His phone is ringing off the hook. After spending one hour with me, he said, ” Dear Mindy, (my personal name), You are a genuine blessing. Keep up the good work. Luv, Sid Bernstein”.
I am looking for investors. If anyone is interested or knows someone who might want to get involved in helping to promote joy and genuine smiles thru CDs, concerts, a tv show( I have a pilot completed), books etc. Please let me know. I have celebrity endorsements as well. Pete Seeger is onboard contributing his time, talents and friendship. Robert Thurman, who is Uma Thurman’s dad and best friend of The Dalai Lama, and Sid Bernstein, who brought The Beatles to America, are supporters. May you give and receive many genuine smiles.
The Smile Revolution began in 2005 on my Dad’s deathbed. He rarely smiled because my grandmother committed suicide when my Dad was a boy and he found her. He rarely smiled again. I grew up depressed as well. The last time I saw my Dad conscious, he gave me a big grin and that smile changed my life. Ten months after his death, I heard a thought that said, “It’s time to start the Smile Revolution.” I was on the radio a lot that year and was on the radio on December 25, 2005 and launched the project on the air. My whole life changed. I started this blog in 2006 when no one heard of a blog. I began a radio show in 2006 for two years with celebrity guests, musicians, authors and promoted uplifting projects that help the world along with the healing power of a genuine smile.
We recently completed a tv pilot to promote this worthy project. The tv show is being shot now and will be online in January. I will let you know how to access it. We had a sold out concert with Pete Seeger as the head liner. We will be doing more concerts and festivals, the tv show, the blog and books as well. I are blessed and so are you.
